So much happens on a game day, it's often difficult to remember everything ... and more times that not I forget at least one task.
I try to send out an e-mail early in the week to our coaches, manager, scheduler, facilities director, trainer, marketing director and a couple people from the athletic department who oversee some game day festivities.
In this e-mail, I list when the opposing team and our team will practice the night before the game and on game day.
I share whether or not our head coach will give her game day "talk" to the boosters.
I list who our guest "Coach for the Day" is and his/her occupation for the marketing department to announce at the game.
I explain any other game day details such as whether the opposing team is bringing a charter bus or vans and where I have instructed them to park.
One thing I have been forgetting to do is remind our manager about shootaround times and make sure she has the key/key card to the building to set up the gym for practices.
The day before a game, I have to make sure I submit a food order to whichever restaurant is catering our pre-game meal. Typically, I will follow-up just to be sure the restaurant has all of our information and the food will be ready on time. Our game day routine follows a strict schedule.
Also on game days, I need to print out a foul sheet to track the fouls for our team and the opposing team.
I need to remind our head coach whether or not she is giving a pre-game talk and who our guest will be for the day.
Wooosh! I know I'm forgetting something in this attempt to list the things I commonly forget!
